The 200 Hour Multidisciplinary Yoga Teacher Training is a comprehensive study of yoga & meditation styles. It blends classical & ancient traditions with contemporary mind-body culture and the harmony of humanity & nature. This course is designed to cultivate comprehension of fundamental theories and practices of yoga & meditation. You will gain technical 'know how' through direct experience. Curiosity, creativity and exploration are tools you will use to experience, expand and deepen your mind-body understanding. This includes your relationship to others and the environment. You will develop your voice and style, while applying these arts & sciences, in a fun and supportive way. You will emerge with greater embodiment of these technologies and how they apply to modern living and teaching.

You will leave with a comfort and confidence in many different facets of yoga & be able to actually teach what moves you.

  • Study groups

 

Course Work & Practices

  • Attend at least two (2) asana classes per week.
  • Attend at least forty-four (44) asana classes.
  • Attend a least one (1) weekly sitting meditation sangha per week.
  • Attend at least (22) sitting meditation sanghas.
  • Read & reflect on required literature + the MYTT manual.
  • 60 Day Sadhana - This is a time to go deeper into a solo practice of your own design. It can include disciplines such as: journaling, drawing, research & analysis, physical education, meditation, nutrition, chanting, pranayama, asana, dhyana (meditation), environmental awareness and intentionality.

Requirements

  • Some yoga & meditation experience.
  • Attend all course sessions
    • Six (6) weekend intensives
    • Twenty three (23) weekday evenings.
  • Attend at least two (2) yoga classes per week*
  • Attend at least one (1) weekly sitting meditation class per week* 
    • *A 6 month Unlimited Yoga Pass at The Spring is included in the price of the program to complete all class requirements
  • Complete all studies.

  • Discovering the Body's Wisdom by Mirka Knaster
  • Encyclopedia of Yoga and Tantra by Georg Feuerstein
  • The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali  - any version with Sanskrit by any author
  • The Dhammapada - any version by any author
  • The Tao Te Ching - any version by any author

Daniel Hickman

Director & Creator of the Multidisciplinary Yoga Course (TT), E-RYT 500+

Daniel is a mind-body educator who shares his knowledge & experience from over 30 years of exploration in movement culture. He teaches in the Military Advanced Training Center (MATC) at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC) applying adaptive yogic practices for those affected by warfare & severe trauma. He facilitates workshops, seminars, trainings and has collaborated with:

The Defense and Veteran’s Center for Integrative Pain Management (DVCIPM) –implementing a protocol of therapeutic yoga within the US military medical system.
Howard University Cancer Center/Hospital – implementing a pilot study of restorative yoga and relaxation for individuals recovering from breast cancer.
Friendship Place/La Casa – facilitating meditation & yoga for minorities living in supportive housing.
Warrior Camp – facilitating meditation & yoga therapy in a tri-modality retreat (with EMDR psychotherapists & equine therapists) for combat veterans with PTSD.
Yoga on the Rocks – leading an annual hike with meditation & yoga atop the Ol’ Ragged Mount of Shenandoah National Park in Virginia, USA.

In his past life Daniel was an artist-educator, and presented interactive & multicultural performances for audiences of children. He performed in the venues of the Barns of Wolf Trap, Imagination Stage, The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and the Discovery Theater of the Smithsonian Institution.

To this day, he continues to work with persons spanning the age of 5 to 85 and always starts with meeting the individual exactly where they are. He is the founder of the Silk Road Yoga Sangha, creator of the Multidisciplinary Yoga Course (Teacher Training) and his hobbies include climbing, gardening & cooking.

The Multidisciplinary Yoga Teacher Training is unique to other courses in that it includes 6 months of UNLIMITED YOGA at The Spring during the teacher training! All prices include the unlimited yoga pass.
